My maternal grandparents came from Abruzzo in the late 1800s. Next month I'll be visiting cousins in Lanciano and in Schiavi di Abruzzo, where my grandparents came from. Any tips on sights in the region would be appreciated.

I guess this group is not very active. Students from Abruzzo will be at Princeton University again this summer. Because of the earthquake there is a need for financial help for these students.

My father came from Abruzzo in 1923 having been under pressure to leave due to his radical ideas aquired during three years of working in Torino. I visited his home town Liscia near Vasto in 1972. At that time his nephews and sister told me stories of his youth. My mother came from Laurenzana south of Potenza. She and her family, 4 siblings plus mamma and pappa came to New York in 1922. I visited her home town in 2007
