Profile Information

Relationship Status:
It's Complicated
About Me:
I live in Naples, Italy. I study International Relations and I just love it! I'd love to find a job in the field of International Economic Relations...and I'd like to find it in the USA! As an Italian American I have had the chance to live in both countries...and I just feel my place is there, on the other side of the ocean! So I'll cross my fingers hoping that everything will work out fine:) In the meanwhile I'll be enjoying this very nice website!
Favorite Music:
I just love Opera. It's a true passion... my favourite one is La Traviata, by Verdi.
I like jazz too. I listen to jazz music pratically everytime I want to get relaxed and dedicate some time to myself...
Then, I love country music...John Denver has written some of my favourite songs (i.e. Annie's Song and Perhaps Love).
And of course, as an Italian American I have grown up listening to Italian American songs... I remember that my favourite compilation when I was a child was a Dean Martin one:p
Favorite TV Shows:
I don't like watching TV... but there are a few channels I do enjoy: History Channel and Discovery Channel. I love learning about the past- both of my people(s!) and of others! Plus these shows give me an idea of the places and the people I would like to experience during my life!

chapter 9

“Interpreters were really important for Italians who, of course, did not know English. Actually most of them didn’t even know Italian perfectly! I mean, having lived all their lives in small villages they were used to speaking in dialect, so they didn’t even know the equivalent in Italian of some of the words which were part of their personal vocabulary! That’s why it was so important that interpreters knew several dialects! Their task was to accompany the immigrants when they were called for th… Continue

Chapter 8

So, they arrived at Ellis Island. And as soon as the ship docked in Manhattan, steerage passengers could see cabin passengers - who had already enjoyed a nicer journey than the one they had had -leaving the ship, having been released to the freedom of New York. Those people’s new life was beginning, but their own… adventure (?), it was not over yet. While the upper classes were enjoying that very happy moment, they were told something like “Now, form a line and wait for your turn to be visited!”… Continue

Chapter 7

So, Grandpa, where did they finally have their visit? How long did they have to wait?
“Well, the steerage passengers usually had to wait ‘till the ship left for the Upper New York Bay, which was almost always the day after their arriving in America. They slept on the ship and when they woke up they could see the tip of Manhattan! Oh boy! That really meant the journey was over…
And then… they met the most beautiful woman they had ever seen… she was waiting for them in the middle of the sea… she w… Continue

As an italian-american family we try our best to follow both our traditions especially when it comes to important holidays as Easter is!
And what is the most important thing Italians and Americans have in common?? the answer is obvious...THEY JUST LOVE GOOD FOOD!!!
So... that's the same for my family:)
Here there are some delicious foods we prepared/baked today!
First of all, king of the kitchen...here it comes THE CASATIELLO!

Chapter 6

There was no way you could touch US soil for the first time if you didn’t pass the inspection.
Fearful and stressed, from the deck of the ship the immigrants saw the land that incarnated their greatest dream but quite possibly might never become “their own” nation.
I remember that my father used to talk about those moments as the scariest of the whole trip.
Yes, doubts concerning your future can even be worse than the ugliest present moment you might be living. You know the present because you’r… Continue

I love everything about your page. Your " story,", your comments on your pics, and your total open mindedness( if that's a word). Everyone should be as giving and compassionate as you.

Benvenuti a tutti
Potreste ascoltare le canzoni che ho
messo nella mia pagina?.
Ho scritto queste musiche per il periodo
di Natale. Spero che vi piacciano.

(I can only hope that my Italian has some
semblance of sensibility)

Greetings everyone--
As time permits, please click onto my page
and listen to some of my original Christmas
musical compositions that I've created for this
most holy of seasons. The holidays are right
around the corner, so--enjoy!

Thanksgiving is almost upon us! In spirit of the season, and our Italian-American family members that came before us, I am suggesting a community project. Since many of us will be gathering with our families, we should interview older family members, or even a relative who has grown-up in a different part of the country, so that we may compare their experiences to our own. After the holiday we can post our stories on I-Italy! Not to leave our Italian community members out, please join us in doing the same =)

Be creative as you want be with this project; post a video interview, create a narrative from your interview answers, post just the questions and answers, or however else you would like.

To post your story, go to the, “Out of Our Basements: Personal and Family Stories” forum, which is found under the “Discussions and Viewpoints” tab. There you will see the new “Thanksgiving” discussion which I will begin over this weekend.

Have a great week and Thanksgiving. I look forward to sharing our stories!
