Thank you so much for your comments! I will certainly look up Iannace's and Cippola's works. Your background sounds very interesting. I know that my own family comes from a Southern Italian hodge-podge: the Napoli-Caserta region (both of my grandmothers' families), Calabria-Reggio region (both grandfathers, fraternal grandmother), and Sicilia-Palermo (maternal grandfather). Fortunately, I have also been able to do some research and have narrowed down the geographic map, if you will. I know the one town from which the Mannarino/Mannerino clan hails is Amantea--beautiful! My maternal grandmother's sister has told me that her family (the Colellas) come from a village called 'Bailatina'. Unfortunately, I can find no record of it whatsoever (even after trying a number of spellings).

Anyway, once again, I thank you for your very helpful comments! I'm sorry it has taken me so long to respond; I have been out of commission for the last few months due to school, applications, writing, etc. I do hope to hear from you again! Good luck with getting dual-citizenship. If "yinz" are ever in the Pittsburgh area, let me know!

Thank you for getting back to me...this is what I hoped for when I got in to this social networking thing a few days ago.
I mean.....I see my kids and the younger people I work with texting, MySpacing, tweeting, whatever, they are constantly telling me "Get on facebook" "Get on MySpace" So I skipped right to a networking site that fit me and my bloodline.
I think me (the old fart) might actually enjoy this!

Hi there-I just recently joined this network on the strong recommendation of a good freind.
I don't speak or understand Italian, (except little buzz words from my now deceased grandparents) -never have been there, hope to go before I leave this earth.
You're the first person I've responded to, just picked your name out of the hat---hope to corrrespond with all of you soon!

Thank you for your comment! I hear that the Italian Cultural Institute is going to begin to offer Italian classes in September '09.
Perhaps I will see you at one of the Institute's functions.
auguri, L.D.
