About Me:
Since its release in Fall 2006 my first poetry book Not Just A Personal Ad has won accolades; in a Lambda Book Report column, poet and reviewer Rigoberto Gonzalez wrote "Poems of intense sensibility and gorgeous imagery are a rarity these days; but this book of verse by a distinctly working class, distinctly lesbian, and distinctly Italian American voice is a must for all readers of good poetry.”

My book can be purchased at www.bluestockings.com, www.mcnallyrobinsonnyc.com/, www.powells.com, www.barnesandnoble.com and www.amazon.com

I've been published in Mudfish, Voices in Italian Americana, Rattle, Lips, The Paterson Literary Review, Italian Americana, Unsettling American: An Anthology of Contemporary Multicultural Poetry, Identity Lessons: Learning American Style, The Milk of Almonds: Italian American Women Writers on Food & Culture, and Harrington Lesbian Fiction Quarterly among others.

I have a chapbook entitled Head For the Van Wyck that contains a poem that my current publisher refused to print for fear of being sued by Camille Paglia.

My poems have been chosen as "Editor's Choice" in the Paterson Literary Review for five times since 2003.

I'm the vice president of the Italian American Writers Association. I was a judge in the 2005 Publishing Triangle's Audre Lorde Award for Lesbian Poetry & Thomas Gunn Award for Gay Poetry

I haver been hosting the Women's/Trans’ Poetry Jam at Bluestockings Bookstore on 172 Allen St. in NYC since its opening in 1999.

The Jam is on the last Tuesday of the month from 7pm to 9pm and has an open mike. if you are in town, come sign up at a few minutes before 7pm and read; it's a 8 minute reading limit.

A writer friend filmed my reading at the Phoenix reading series on Oct. 14, 2007; please see http://www.deirdresinnott.com/audiovideo/repettovideo.htm. Check it out!!

I earn my living by being a doctor of Chiropractic & an Applied kinesiologist. if you want to know what that means or are interested in an appt; please check out my web site.

tuesday in b'klyn

with time to kill

while my cat gets his balls

snipped off,

i go up to the botanical gardens.

the roses are in bloom.

i sniff the hybrid teas,

careful

not to annoy

the bees

as they frantically

roll and rub themselves

in sex

HI Vittoria,
I have just joined this site and am amazed at the incredible mind behind it. I would love some Italian American writers on Book Creators Circle. There is so much which can be done and should be done to support writers. Australia is not an easy country for writers and people in publishing. I suppose it is the same everywhere. Hope to link up with others who like me are from an Italian background and who write. Thanks. Letizia

Thanks for the invite Vittoria! Maybe we should start a group for those of us with roots in the Italian West Village! :-)

Did you see the study that GVSHP did late last year on the Italians in the Village?
