About Me:
Life in Italy for a young University researcher is never boring: you may never stop searching for new ideas and initiatives to pursue, if you want to survive the "adverse ecosystem" of academics in Italy. Recently, I ended up with the idea that the nice technology that flourishes in Italian research labs should be taken to the real world, and not only in the form of scientific publications. So I decided to take a turn in my career and dedicate myself to technology transfer. The first step was to work on an innovation-based business idea, and then I started looking for funds and education in business to improve my marketing skills.

While the first are still lacking, I got a GREAT occasion for the latter: I have been selected for a special FULBRIGHT Program called BEST (Business Exchange and Student Training) that will bring me in early September 2008 to the heart of world-class enterpreneurship, the Silicon Valley, California! I'll be doing internship in a company and studying Executive MBA courses in the night. ... Sounds tough but I am very excited, it will be my first time in the US!

So... If anybody in the community on the West Coast feels like has some advice to give to an Italian newcomer, please don't hesitate to post me! (PS: of course, I speak also Italian -it's my mother tongue-, so feel free to use it if you like. French is also fine, Spanish a bit tough, of German just basics).

(-> 5 hours sleep on day 2). Second, it was my first time… Continue

Great job Paolo!
The orientation day was a very exciting experience and I'm looking forward to begin our adventure!
A technical question: how should we use the blog for our discussions? We may use the homepage of one of us, what do you think?
Anyway, Santa Clara is waiting for us... TOSTI & GAGLIARDI !!!

Well done Paolo! Your efficiency sounds more American than Italian: the blog is already running. Perfect job!
