Nor was this theory secluded to Italian immigrants I discovered in talking with other friends and researching online. I call this theory the “Generations Unravel”. The definition of unravel is as foll… Continue

Well said, Crystal!

Where do you live? If you live in the New York area we should set up a meeting at the i-Italy headquarters, maybe you can help our staff to organize a good campaign for the AP Italian program!

Hello!

As an Italian/American writer you must have an opinion on the teaching of the Italian language in the United States...

Why don’t you help the i-italy crew to try to save the AP Italian program? Add a comment to the discussion we’ve just started!!!

Here’s a direct link to the discussion!

Hi Crystal, thanks for inviting me to link in with you on i-Italy. I loved the photos you posted. I, too, feel drawn to reclaiming and unearthing my Italian roots. I'm a second generation Italian American and very interested in the many ways that assimiliation has tried to silence ethnic identity and pride (although it hasn't succeeded!). I look forward to reading more of your work on this site and also to seeing more of your photos. Ciao, Mary

That's awesome. I've been digging up my family history for about 20 years now and it's been alternately rewarding, challenging and frustrating. Wait, sometimes it's been all three at the same time, too! Have you been to see family in Italy, too? Where are they from?
